Careers

SoReCC is a place to do work that matters. We study how societies, infrastructures and institutions cope with climate change and emerging risk, and we turn that research into knowledge people can use. We are always glad to hear from talented researchers and practitioners who want to be part of it.

Why join us

Working with SoReCC means contributing to research with real-world purpose, often within European projects that bring together universities, public authorities and industry. Our members combine academic depth with practical experience, and we offer a collaborative, multi-disciplinary environment where engineers, social scientists, economists and risk specialists work on the same problems side by side. It is a setting in which early-career and experienced professionals alike can grow, publish their work, and see it applied in practice.

Who we look for

We value rigour, curiosity and the ability to work across disciplines and with partners outside academia. The backgrounds we draw on include:

  • engineering, including civil, structural and earthquake engineering
  • risk, resilience and business continuity
  • climate and environmental science
  • the social sciences and economics
  • data, modelling and decision support

Ways to get involved

Opportunities with SoReCC take several forms:

  • research and project roles within our European and national projects
  • early-career and doctoral research carried out with our members
  • visiting researcher and associate arrangements
  • collaboration with partner organisations on joint proposals and studies

Current opportunities

Specific vacancies are posted here when they are open. We also welcome speculative expressions of interest at any time. If you would like to work with us, or to explore a collaboration, please get in touch and tell us about your background and what interests you.
