Adaptation has moved to the centre of European climate policy. The question is no longer whether to adapt but how to do so in a way that is evidence based, equitable and durable. SoReCC supports this shift by helping partners assess climate risk, prioritise adaptation options and build the institutional capacity needed to implement them.
What we bring
Our approach starts from robust risk assessment. We work with hazard, exposure and vulnerability information to understand where impacts will fall hardest, and we pay particular attention to the socio-economic consequences that often go unmeasured. Drawing on the combined expertise of our members across hydrological systems, land use, agriculture, human health and the built environment, we help consortia move from broad climate scenarios to concrete, place-based adaptation pathways.
Our role in a consortium
We are equally focused on the human side of adaptation. Measures only succeed when communities understand them, trust them and take part in shaping them. SoReCC designs and runs engagement, co-creation and knowledge transfer activities that bring citizens, local authorities and businesses into the adaptation process. This makes us a natural partner for the demonstration, living lab and stakeholder dimensions of a project.
Policy and funding alignment
Our adaptation work supports the EU Adaptation Strategy, the Mission on Adaptation to Climate Change and the relevant Horizon Europe destinations on biodiversity, natural resources and climate resilient regions. It contributes to Sustainable Development Goals 13, 11 and 6.
Value for your consortium
SoReCC provides adaptation framing, vulnerability and risk insight, and a proven capacity to connect projects with the local actors on whom successful adaptation ultimately depends.
